📄 GUIDELINES FOR BUSINESS / TRADE REGISTRATION AND BUSINESS PREMISES CERTIFICATION

🧾 1. INTRODUCTION

These guidelines outline the procedures and applicable fees for:

  • Business / Trade Registration
  • Business Premises Certification

The objective is to ensure:

  • Transparency in fees and procedures
  • Ease of doing business
  • Proper regulation of commercial activities

📂 2. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

Applicants are required to:

  • Complete the official application form
  • Provide:
    • Proposed Business / Trade Name
    • Type of Business (Formal or Informal)
    • Nature of Business Activity
    • Business Address
    • Contact Details

💳 3. PAYMENT PLATFORM

All payments must be made via the official government platform:

Applicants will receive an electronic receipt with a unique reference and QR code upon payment.


🏷 4. BUSINESS REGISTRATION FEES

🟢 Formal & Informal Business

  • Minimum Fee: ₦2,000
  • Maximum Fee: ₦1,000,000

👉 Fee is determined based on:

  • Share capital
  • Business size
  • Industry classification

🧾 6. BUSINESS PREMISES REGISTRATION PROCESS

Step 1: Application

  • Collect and complete application form

Step 2: Payment

    • A non-refundable registration fee of ₦10,000 to be renew yearly at ₦5,000
    • Payment must be made via:

    • Evidence of payment (receipt) must be submitted along with the application

Step 3: Submission

  • Submit:
    • Completed form
    • Payment receipt
    • CAC certificate (if applicable)

Step 4: Verification

  • Registration officer reviews application
  • Confirms compliance

Step 5: Approval

  • Certificate prepared and forwarded for approval

Step 6: Issuance

  • Approved Business Premises Certificate is issued

⏳ 7. PROCESSING TIME

  • All applications (Business, Trade, and Premises) shall be processed within 24 hours, provided:
    • Complete documentation is submitted
    • Payment is confirmed

Applicants will receive:

  • Business / Trade Registration Certificate
  • Business Premises Certificate
  • Official Payment Receipt

The Ministry has established a Grievance Redress Mechanism (GRM) to handle complaints and ensure timely resolution of issues.
